Komatsu chassis parts - guide wheel replacement method

The guide wheel is an important part in the walking system of large-scale construction machinery such as excavators. It is installed on the track to guide the track. Its main function is to guide the correct winding of the track.
The method of replacing the guide wheel of the excavator:
1. First remove the crawler belt of the excavator.
Remove a one-way valve at the grease nipple, release the butter inside, push the guide wheel in with a bucket, and make the track as loose as possible. If the excavator used is below 150, remove the track pin. If it is above 150, use a bucket to hook the track. Remember to remove the one-way valve, otherwise it will be difficult to remove the track, let alone install it.
2. Install guide wheels.
The guide wheel installation is the same as the general wheel installation method. Use a jack to support the excavator, and then use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws. After removing them, install new wheels and apply lubricating oil to complete the installation.
Use a grease gun to inject butter into the grease tank through the grease nozzle, make the piston stretch out to push the tension spring, and move the guide wheel to the left to tighten the track. The tension spring has an appropriate stroke. When the tension force is too large, the spring is compressed to act as a buffer; after the excessive tension force disappears, the compressed spring pushes the guide wheel to its original position. This can ensure sliding along the track frame to change the wheelbase, ensure the disassembly and assembly of the track, reduce the impact of the walking process, and avoid the derailment of the rail chain. The cause of damage to the guide wheel assembly is mainly due to poor lubrication of the guide wheel shaft.
